Part of the Life in Details team!!!

Hi lovelies!!! I hope you are all keeping well, and to those in North Queensland safe in this horrible weather we are having. It hasn't stopped raining and blowing a gail for the past week here in Macktown. Fingers crossed we come out ok.

Anyways i am just popping in to share some wondrous news............ As some of you know i have just become a fan of Smash booking(and sort of looking into the world of PL) and have created a few pieces so far. I applied just recently for a DT role at Life in Details, a wonderful challenge site for Smash Booking and Project Life, and was successful!! Yay me!!! So stay tuned to see my creations. To see the announcement and a list of the other talented ladies pop over here.

Prima January BAP

Hello lovelies i hope you are keeping well. To all my fellow Aussies i hope you are having a wonderful Australia Day. We normally have a barbie and go swimming but today the weather has taken a turn for the worse and we will be spending day inside, plus my darling heads off to work this arv, so we definitely have a change this year from our usual dealings.

Anyway i am not complaining as i have managed to spend the morning crafting. I started my page for the Prima BAP a few days ago and finally got to finishing it. It has been awhile since i played along and thought i would have a go. I had an idea in my head which started with me making my own dream catcher, which in turn lead me to make my own feathers (def will be doing this again :) ). Nine Mendella created this month's sketch.  If you haven't already seen the sketch this month here it is.

2014 BAP Nine

Here is my page. I changed my mind a heap of times, altered the paper, added a heap of layers and finally am happy with the end result.

Ok so i hope you enjoy the rest of your day, take care xx

Twisted Tuesday Challenge

Hello lovelies, i hope you are all keeping well and scrapping up a storm : ) Today i managed to find a little scrappy time, lucky me! My partner has actually been working night shift so i am limited to the amount of housework i can do, absolutely no vacuuming whatsoever. It has been hard especially with the kids still on holidays. But today we pottered around and i found some scrappy time.

I must admit i have been putting my feelers out there this year and am trying to find a few new challenges to keep me going. I stumbled across Twisted Tuesday Challenges the other day and thought it was a good challenge. So here is the challenge......

THE CHALLENGE

Use Washi tape, fabric tape, etc on your creation

THE TWIST

Use something that begins with a "T" or a "A" or a "P" or a "E" on your creation.
(other than the washi tape that is)
Examples: T = teal, twine, thread, etc. / A = acetate, apple, aqua, alcohol markers etc. / P = pearls, paint, pink, etc. / E = embossing, echo park paper, etc.

I set about creating another page to add to our holiday album. It is a photo of my three darlings in the thermal pool at Mataranka. The water was refreshing and the colour was this beautiful turquoise colour, a reason why i scrapped using this luscious colour. I managed to get lots of washi tape down and then using the letter "T" i chose transparencies and thread (haha but i also used "P" as in a pen and paint).

I also finally managed to use my chipboard word "splash", this little darling has been in my stash around 7 years i reckon. I used the Lavared Inka Gold again with my finger to rub it on the top. After giving it a buff with some paper towel it gave its shimmer and i was able to paint on the glimmermist. Due to the Inka Gold being made out of a beeswax mixture it is able to repel off some of the Glimmermist to create that wonderful merging of colours.

This truly was a wonderful place to visit but i think next time we will go up in the dry season, lol. So that is it from me today. TFL and take care xx.

For the love of all things chipboard!

Chipboard is a very versatile addition to any scrappers stash. The possibilities are endless which is why i love it so. These days there are so many fun and creative shapes and words to cover every theme imaginable for your pages.  Below i have chosen to showcase my top 10 favourite chipboard layouts and the treatments i have given them. Some of these are new this year (told you i have been scrapping up a storm behind closed curtains) and i have thrown in a couple of oldies but goodies.

I have embossed the chipboard vine with gold embossing powder and left it a little messy(i wasn't to particular having a smooth finish) which once dry i rubbed my black Staz On ink pad all over it making sure i got into the grooves. This gave it an aged look. For the chippy title i slapped on some Gesso in a rough many too. There is also some left over chipboard frame behind the photo which i left as is.

I am in love with this page so much. I painted the chippy frame with kaisercraft "Hot Pink" paint and then added some micro beads to it. Of course there are also some chippy letters which i added some doodling to as well.

For this one the chippy title"You & me" i used my finger to apply some Inka -Gold (Lavared) Once dry i stamped on top and using my finger, again, applied a little texture paste to it. The other chippy i left raw and doodled around it. The two pieces were one but i cut them in two to make it go further.I even salvaged the packaging from the Imaginarium chippy i used ;)

I had only just finished this one for the OUAS and Challenge YOUrself challenges and really fell in love with it I pulled apart a chippy brick piece and stuck it raw on the page. Then using an old credit card i scrapped some Gesso over the top of it. I added some polaroid chippy pieces too which are in original condition.

Here i took some chippy squares and covered them in different patterned paper and then each one ended up different.

This was a fun page to create. For a start i used a blue background,(really am trying to get out of my white background comfort zone), the chippy title had an ink pad applied to it and then Kindy Glitz painted onto it(yes painted as i feel it gives a better coverage than straight from the bottle)

Another new page created from our 6000ish road trip to the NT. What else is there to do but take selfies. The two chippy pieces were treated with different ink pads and then added.

I left the chippy raw in this as it went so well with the page that way, as there was already so much going on.

I had so much fun creating this page. The chippy title i covered in paper, sanded and then inked and doodled. A very time consuming task but the outcomes are amazing. The other pieces are grungeboard which i inked and sprayed with water to give them the watercolor effect and lastly doodled around.

The chipboard circles were actually a 12x12 piece which i cut up to manipulate around my page. I painted them and then used them as a place to journal on.

So lovelies that is it, my top 10 favourite chipboard layouts. May there be many more to come. Have a lovely rest of your weekend :)

OUAS and Challenge YOUrself page.

I have been working away at a few pages. The one i want to share today actually was created with two challenge sites in mind. The first is a blog i have only just discovered. A lovely blog to get us all scrapping about ourselves, Challenge YOUrself.  It is their second only challenge and it is a good one. You are to choose "One Little Word". It is a word that you will focus on and reflect upon all through the year and we are to create a layout that celebrates our chosen word. My word i chose is "healthy".

While thinking about this word i saw that Once Upon A.....Sketch this month is encouraging us to journal about a lesson learnt. With my word "healthy" i began thinking about my journey to be so and the lessons i have learnt along the way. Of course OUAS also requires the use of a sketch which i interpreted to suit my needs.

So that is it from me tonight. I hope to share some more pages this weekend with you, until then take care xx

Scrap Africa Challenge 25 - Hosted by me : )

So here we are already closing in on the end of Janary. This fortnight  i not only bring you another challenge from Scrap Africa but i am also hosting it. This fortnight i ask of you to create a card, layout or altered piece that has a recycled item and please tell us what that item is. The ladies have really out done themselves this fortnight. I hope you can have a play and check out the inspiration.

Use at least 1 recycled item on your project.

Not only are the girls at Scrap Africa offering a prize but i to will be offering these little goodies. Some book pages, napkins, bling, a stamp, doilies and some cute little pegs, all for you to be shipped anywhere in the world : )

Upcycling is really big right now. I have been doing it for awhile myself. I find myself salvaging the weirdest items with the hopes of incorporating them into my pages. I absolutely love the unique and interesting look i can achieve on my pages. I know a few people who would in absolute horror at adding anything that is not acid free near their photos but for me it is not an issue because i don't use the original photo. I mean in modern day society as well all our photos are backed up in more than one media and can be easily printed out again and again. In my case i print, store on computer, burn to a CD and sometimes a USB stick so i am well backed up.

So as i crated my page I decided to use some straws which i bought from Woolies, i also purchased them in a few other colours ;)

I had this awesome bag laying around after my daughters birthday.....

and it had these awesome hot air balloons, which i cut out. I still have a few more to use as well ;)

I then created this page and got a litte messy. I fear i went too far, lol, but had so much fun creating it. Another colour scheme i seldom use but i thought it would have to be a masculine type page.

So that is it from me for now. Take care xxx.

Top 13 of 2013!!

Hello lovelies, i hope you are all keeping well and enjoying the new year : ) We have finally returned from our 6000ish kilometre travel  to the Top End. So many wonderful memories we have created as a family. Although a special highlight was seeing my niece for the first time. She really is a beautiful little thing. It has been one of the best holidays in awhile. Although it sure is good to be home I cannot wait to sink my teeth in travelling again. Road trips really are special as you see so many amazing things and the road from Queensland to the Northern Territory is an eye opener i assure you. So with an armful of photos and some new stuff i purchased on my travels, along with some wonderful memories, i plan to set about creating more this year.

With my holidays over now it is  back to blogging, no more auto pilot. I know the new year is well and truly underway and i am a bit late but i just wanted to do a recap of my top 13 creations for 2013before i begin sharing the  new years creations. I really love looking back at my creations and i think highlighting a top few is a great idea. It was a little hard but some became my favs because of a technique i tried for the first time or i began smash booking this year so it is special to me. I hope you like them as much as i do.

Happy New Year and Sketch 25 Scrap Africa reveal

HAPPY NEW YEAR LOVELIES!!! Here we are a brand new year, my how time flies. I hope the new year brings you all much happiness and of course i hope it gets your creativity juices flowing.

I am super excited to share this page finally as it was the first page i created in my new house. Everything on the page was purchased to create it as i had all my stuff in boxes. I loved shopping solely for my page, i miss that. When i first began scrapping i did not have a stash as i do now and i would pick out my photo and walk down to my local shop, at the time, and purchase only what i needed to finish my page. My how things have changed as i can go many months now without needing supplies or stepping foot in any shop.

So i rotated the sketch and set about creating. These photos were taken many years ago but i wanted to scrap them anyway. I never have been a chronological scrapper. This page made me really love orange too,

Ok lovelies, that is it from me for now. I hope you find some time to play along or just pop over and see what the lovely ladies have created. I am still holidaying in Darwin. enjoying the last few weeks of my holidays before i plummet back to reality. It is going to be a busy year for me as i begin my second year of Nursing. Take care xx.
