Scrap Africa Challenge 24 - Snowflakes, Glitter and Masking.

Wow welcome to December. I have been a terrible blogger these days but life has just been super chaotic. I have barely had any chance to step foot into my scrap room and probably won't until after Christmas when we return from our holidays. Since writing this post we have since set out on a 3 day road trip to Darwin. I love road trips and haven't traveled the roads that way since i was a teenager. My partner has never set foot into the NT at all so it will be a good experience for him lol. So expect plenty of photos when i get back and very little of me for now.

So with that said it brings us to another challenge over at Scrap Africa.  The challenge this month is snowflakes, glitter and masking. I must admit i am not a really big fan of glitter and snowflakes. Glitter because it can be super messy and snowflakes well because it really never gets that cold here. But i loved the challenge.

I had lots of fun using my water colour pencils and my honeycomb stencil to start, and then i used a Prima mask with texture paste. At this point i sprayed several mists all over and once dry began to build up my page. You cant see it too well but the snowflakes all have glitter on them and the title does too. The photo is of my youngest wearing the same jumpsuit her older sister wore. It is a beautiful lemon colour and super cute.

So that is it from me for now. I hope you get to have a lovely holiday with plenty of time to scrap. xx

Guest Designer for Life in Details

I was so excited to be asked to be Guest Designer this month for Life in Details. I am so happy i found this blog as i plunge into the world of Smash booking and i am seriously contemplating Project Life. It is amazing how new fads keep popping up.

I really had so much fun creating this page of my daughters hand and foot prints. I kept pretty intricate details of their growth throughout the years, they are only little for awhile you know. I have alot of these tiny little feet from both my girls and as i contemplate a 3rd child it kept the cluckiness  away for a while. It was a bit hard though as i was in the process of moving too but i am happy with what i created, considering the lack of supplies at hand.

A closer view of each page.

So that is it from me for now. Take care xx

Scrap Africa Sketch 24 reveal!!!

Wow where is the year going??? Almost Chrissy and i am pretty much hitting the ground running. We have had such a big few weeks and it is only getting bigger. In a few weeks we are road tripping to Darwin to visit my wonderful family in the Northern Territory. So a very hot Christmas for us this year. I hope all your plans are falling into place.

So we start this month off with a sketch. It really is a lovely sketch,to see what our GD and our DT have created pop over ------->here. Who knows you may just be inspired to play along.

Here is my page i created of my oldest when she was 15 months old, i really cannot believe she will be 10 in a months time. Time seems to have rushed by. I used some wax crayon on my background, you gotta be quick because it dries really quick. As i melted it and it dripped i blew it with a straw outwards. It really is a fun technique i definitely will try again. I even enjoyed using a colour palette i wouldn't normally use.

So that is it from me for now, take care xx. I hope you do get a chance to play along with us.

I managed to scrap a a page of my partner and i at my brothers wedding this year. I absolutely loved how it turned out. I changed my mind quite a few times but with a bit of persistence i finished it.

So that is it from me for now. Take care.

CSI Case # 94 - "Wonder"

Hello lovelies i hope you are all enjoying some scrapping time. I managed to finish my page i started using Case File # 94. It has been a long time since i got to have a play over there.

On our recent trip to Melbourne we went to the zoo. In the zoo is a Butterfly House. We all sat around and waited patiently for them to land on us.

For my evidence i used a book page, which i scrunched, a black background and some alphas for a design element on my background. For my journaling i found a poem on Pinterest. So that is it from me for now TFL!!! Blessed Be!!

My Black With Two entry!!

Back again. I stumbled across the Black With Two blog sometime ago and have attempted to play along but have never managed. I forced myself to complete my page which i have been working on since the first lol. It is a page of my youngest painting. From a very young age my children have always engaged in art activities. They amaze me with their abilities everyday.

So this months challenge is DOMINANT BLACK WITH CANDY PINKS WITH GOLD PLUS 5% ALLOWED WHITE.

It instantly appealed to me and i set about covering my page with paints and mists. I added the finishing touches this morning and am happy with it!! Sorry for the glary shot but it is a little blah here today..not sure if it wants to rain or not!!

Take care xoxoxo

A new fortnight, a new challenge!!

Hello lovelies! Today i am popping in with this fortnights challenge at Scrap Africa. Challenge number 22 is being hosted by the ever talented Elena Smoktunova.

Elena Smoktunova

The challenge this fortnight is all about resisting, whether you use embossing, crayons, glue, gesso or any medium that resists paint, inks etc.
We have some wonderful inspiration from our Design Team and our Guest Design Team ladies. We would love to see what you create, so pop over ----------> here and give it ago :)

Today i am sharing a page i created with a white crayon and mists. It really is an easy and yet dramatic technique. I had so much fun creating this page, it was therapy for my soul not just beause the colours or getting messy but because i scrapped me!!! It is a page that represents who i am right now! 2013 has seen me evolve so much. I am a healthier and happier person for it. I give thanks to the higher powers for giving me the strength and guiding me along this journey!

So that is it from me thanks for dropping by. Hope you find some time to join in. Take care and until next time keep scrapping!!!!

I have been Smash booking again!!!

I  have only just recently taken the plunge into the world of smash booking and was super pumped to find  a challenge blog for it!!  Life in Details this month has asked to use a sketch for inspiration this month and i was up for the challenge. I managed to finish this in an afternoon sitting which i was super stoked about too!!! My Smash book pages i finished were a dedication to my love of graffiti. I know most people think it is vandalism and tagging and that is ugly don't get me wrong but most graffiti really are amazing pieces of art work. Earlier this year upon my travels through Melbourne i was snapping photos of graffiti left, right and centre lol. But i chose to scrap one piece that was on a wall where we stayed. So without further adieu here is the sketch which inspired my pages....

To create my pages i used washi tape which i purchased from Typo. I love Typo!!! It is a little shop which sells vintage styled stuff as well as scrapping supplies. I have also added texture paste, paint, doodling, mists and some chippy alphabets which have been in my stash forever. I really love using mix matched alphas,it really creates a unique look!

Ok so thanks for dropping by. Take care and i will see you soon!

Life is Amazing!!!

Well lovelies i hope we are all keeping well and of course finding some lovely crafting time whatever it shall be. Life really is a amazing right now and it is about time!! I have been so busy experimenting with so much and my ideas have been swamping me. I think it was some much needed RNR camping. Camping really is an amazing thing, getting back to bare basics. It really does wonders for OCD tendencies as well!

So what have been up to??? Well I saw somewhere on Facebook that a lady had been making her own masks with her Cricut and some plastic. I thought this was a fantastic idea so i decided to try myself. In a desperate bid to recycle waste (insert the new planet saving hippy here) i tried to recycle some packaging from my daughters bday present. It was too thick but it still managed to make an score it, so i used my knife to go over the scoring. One broken knife and a few sore fingers later i did it! I even used it on the start of my page. Now i need to find something else to make my stencils with, any ideas???

Upon my travels the other day i discovered these 12x12 boxes, they are now home to my bulky pages. I love them more than albums right now!!! How do you like to store your pages??

I have also been playing with my camera, not just using auto lol. I bought my Nikon back in April because i had out grown my old digital camera and wanted some great photos while i was in Melbourne. I have absolutely no intentions to become a photographer but i do want to take some AMAZING photos of my beautiful family so i had a play on the weekend when we went camping. here are just a few i took that i love. As i said i am no photographer!!!!

Love this mans eyes :)

Marshmallows on the fire!

Our very unwanted guest lol!

Lastly a big shout out to my baby girl, who is not my baby anymore, who turned 6 on Monday. She was one extremely spoilt little girl. Happy Birthday honey!

Until next time take care. I am off to finish a few pages i have on the go.

Happy 1st of October and another challenge at Scrap Africa!

Wow can you believe how quickly this year is flying by? I was meant to post this the other day but i have been so busy, kids what can i say! We spent such a lovely afternoon yesterday at Jarravale Alpacas. I have loved  Alpacas for so long and discovered a place just outside of Mackay that has them, as well as a heap of other farm animals. The kids got the opportunity to feed and pat a heap of animals and they just loved it. We even left with our very own stuffed toy Alpaca, which has already earnt a place in the family!

School holidays means creating!

I really love school holidays! I not only get to have my kids at home and have lazy mornings but it usually means fun, fun and more fun. We have been creating alot in between camping, going visiting, and all the other stuff. We went down to Bundy on the weekend to visit the inlaws and the girls had such a blast with all the baby animals their Nana had down on her farm. Of course i got an opportunity to have a little shop too. I managed to find some owl mugs. I have quite a little growing collection of different owls and these just fit right in. I am looking forward to a lovely cuppa with them :)

I have also managed to read a few books these holidays and the kids have had a blast going to the library. There is lots to do and this week they will be attending another art class there.  Two of my fav books i have managed to read are

So i have been scrapping but alot of it is for upcoming DT challenges for Scrap Africa. So i will share them of course when it is time. However i managed to finish something i started along time ago. Around 3 years ago i began my love of creating on canvas. Of course i also have a habit of not finishing things. Something i am trying to rectify but i guess i just put it down to having to many ideas. Anyway i started a canvas for my oldest daughter and i some babushka dolls from my cricut, sapped down some scraps and this is as far as i got...

Looking pretty blah at this point. Anyway add some Gesso, Texture paste and mists, using some scraps and here you have it a canvas for my daughters room.

Okay so that is it from me, take care.

Using up my stash!!

I sat the other day waist deep in a pile of old scrapbooking mags, believe me i am disgusted in how many i have. I began scrapbooking almost 10 years ago as a way of not just documenting my oldest daughters life but also to keep me sane too :) Since then the scrapping world has changed time and time again, and so to has my style. But i sat today and looked through some of the past inspirations and then i got to being inspired. I have alot of left over paper (ok maybe that is an understatement) and some with just a small piece missing. I have been giving my kids my scraps and they havent even made a dint in them.

As i sat in the mags i also began to rummage through some of my scraps and  i can remember most of the paper, when i bought it and what i created with it. It brought back some lovely memories. But as of today i have decided to not buy a single thing for the rest of the year, especially paper!!!  Don't get me wrong i will need tape, glue, texture paste etc but i am talking stash stuff. Not only that but every page i create from now on will be done with my scraps!!! Of course it will be hard but i am up for the challenge! Plus upon recently quiting work, being a student and raising a family on one income it probably isn't a bad move! Oh and those little things i put away for that "special" page, well i am using them too!!

So with all this in mind i set about creating and exprimenting. Not thinking about how it will end up just cutting, sticking, glueing, painting. The first page i created though is a page inspired by Emily Falconbridge. She has alays been an inspiration to me ever since i started.  It is pretty simple because i did not want to cover the background too much.

This next one is pretty simple too but sweet and it says all i need to say. The frame around my photo i have had for around 9 years i reckon, shocking isn't it.

Lastly a page that i am not sure if it is finished or not. A page that i ruined and salvaged a few times from ripping up and starting again.

Well that is it from me, i have a  few DT pages to get to and a whole lot of housework but there is no rest for the wicked ;) Take care and until next time keep scrapping!!

Another fortnight, another challenge!! I really enjoyed creating this page and i even used up some stuff i have been keeping for those rainy days, lol, and some scraps! My daughter took a lovely photo of her father and me and i just had to use it. I guess not every photo has to be perfect right??

So if you would love to have a go at this weeks challenge pop over here. We would love to see you there and lets face it who doesn't have some spare washi tape and twine laying around.

So that is it from me for today. Take care xx

Prima love

Ok so i am back to share with you a page i created which was inspired by last months Prima BAP. I finally finished it and it's only about 2 weeks late :P This is vast becoming one of my fave family photos, not because of the excellent photography skills but i think more because of the memories it envokes. We had so much fun in Melbourne and i hope to visit again real soon.

So that's it from me for now, i am off to finish some more unfinished projects lol!! I am trying to get my mojo back into gear from the long hibernation it took. Take care xxx
